Telephone wires can easily be damaged, but these are designed to drop-off before any damage is done. The insulators are approximately 2mm dia. x 3mm long neodymium magnets with some black button thread tied and super-glued around it. The plated steel brackets have a hole in the back for a pin, to secure it to a wall or fascia board. The button thread wires were wiped with diluted PVA and eased into a natural sagging curve.
The telephone pole was a Bandai plastic accessory which pushed into a tube glued in the ground. Boxes were added at the top and bottom with wires running between them. Storage was a concern as separating magnets can be very difficult, so a good storage unit was essential. The solution was to cut down some old rigid plastic tubing and tape them together. The individual magnets are dropped into a tube and lowered to the bottom where they all latch onto each other preventing escape! Care must still be taken getting them out, but the system works and it provides protection for the pole as well.
