Model description: The main station is the terminus of the railway and is located close to the manor house, beyond the brick wall. At one time, trains ran into the enclosed area to supply the house and ancillary buildings with goods, but the advent of motor vehicles, this was no longer used. However, the track survives in working order for special occasions. The main building on the layout now serves as the main offices and workshops for maintenance and minor repairs. Each bay is fully detailed inside and fitted with lighting.
Background Info: The building is based on a brick farm cart shed in Upper Mitton, Staffordshire. The upper floor was a granary that we like to think was for malting barley, for beer. The model was originally covered in brick paper to match the original, but this was replaced with plastic stone sheeting and hand carved details.
The roof slates are laser cut in A4 long strips of grey card (back of notepads) and cut to length. Rather than plain square cuts, a CAD drawing was produced with minor discrepancies along the bottom edges to take the 'straightness' away.
