Revival

Following Johns death in 2012, the layout passed to Geoff Thorne. It had spent over 20 years in John's unheated loft, and had suffered accordingly. The scenery had decidedly seen better days; the Pyruma stonework had almost completely deteriorated, but the track and electrics worked OK.

One day, Geoff floated the idea of 'Reviving' the layout and taking it to an exhibition. In fact, why not aim for the 7mm Narrow Gauge Association AGM show in June 2014. There were no objections - far from it, so at the next meeting, the two main boards were extricated and assessed.

We quickly decided to make another board on one end, to turn the through station into a terminus. This would also allow us to make the platform a run-around, the lack-of-which frustrated most operators of the layout section. At the other end, the rotating fiddleyard would have to be replaced, and a cassette system was muted.

Geoff made the extension board and Stephen sketched up the scene with some ideas on details and track layout. The very next week we started in earnest. We were under-way!

The 2014 show came and went and we were far from ready. However, we weren't concerned as we were building a layout again and enjoying every minute!
